Metrics Overview

Metrics help you understand how your messaging campaigns are performing, track engagement, and make data-driven decisions. Conviso provides comprehensive metrics across all channels and message types.

What are metrics?

Metrics are quantitative measurements that track the performance of your messages, campaigns, and overall workspace activity. They help you:

  • Measure success - Understand which messages resonate with your audience
  • Identify issues - Spot delivery problems or low engagement
  • Optimize campaigns - Make informed decisions about messaging strategy
  • Track growth - Monitor workspace activity and engagement over time

Types of metrics

Conviso tracks several categories of metrics:

Volume metrics

These metrics count the number of messages:

  • Sent - Total messages sent (attempted)
  • Delivered - Messages successfully delivered
  • Failed - Messages that failed to send
  • Suppressed - Messages blocked due to unsubscribes or bounces

Engagement metrics

These metrics measure how people interact with your messages:

  • Opened - Number of messages opened (email and push)
  • Clicked - Number of links clicked
  • Unique opens - Number of unique people who opened
  • Unique clicks - Number of unique people who clicked

Quality metrics

These metrics indicate message quality and deliverability:

  • Delivery rate - Percentage of sent messages that were delivered
  • Open rate - Percentage of delivered messages that were opened
  • Click rate - Percentage of delivered messages with clicks
  • Bounce rate - Percentage of messages that bounced
  • Spam rate - Percentage of messages marked as spam
  • Unsubscribe rate - Percentage of recipients who unsubscribed

Goal metrics

For campaigns and broadcasts with goals:

  • Goal achieved - Number of people who completed the goal
  • Goal achievement rate - Percentage of recipients who achieved the goal

  • Credits usage (coming soon)
  • Quick stats (coming soon)

Campaign Analytics

Each campaign has an Analytics tab showing:

  • Metrics by channel (email, push, SMS)
  • Date range filtering
  • Channel-specific breakdowns
  • Engagement rates

Broadcast Analytics

Each broadcast has an Analytics tab showing:

  • All-time metrics
  • Channel-specific metrics
  • Delivery and engagement rates
  • Goal achievement (if configured)

Transactional Analytics

Each transactional has an Analytics tab showing:

  • Sent count
  • Delivered count
  • Opened count (for email and push)
  • Clicked count (for email and push)
  • Delivery and engagement rates

Understanding rates

Rates are calculated as percentages:

  • Delivery rate = (Delivered / Sent) × 100
  • Open rate = (Opened / Delivered) × 100
  • Click rate = (Clicked / Delivered) × 100
  • Bounce rate = (Bounced / Sent) × 100
  • Goal achievement rate = (Goal achieved / Delivered) × 100

Why rates matter

Rates help you understand performance relative to volume:

  • A high delivery rate means your messages are reaching recipients
  • A high open rate indicates engaging subject lines or push titles
  • A high click rate shows compelling content and clear calls-to-action
  • Low bounce and spam rates maintain sender reputation

Metric updates

Metrics are updated in real-time as messages are sent and events occur:

  • Sent counts update immediately when messages are queued
  • Delivery status updates as delivery confirmations are received
  • Opens and clicks update as engagement events are tracked
  • Bounces and failures update as errors are reported

Some metrics may take a few minutes to fully update, especially for high-volume sends.

Date ranges

You can filter metrics by date range:

  • All-time - All metrics since creation
  • Custom range - Select specific start and end dates
  • Last 30 days - Default view for dashboard charts

Date range filtering helps you:

  • Compare performance across time periods
  • Identify trends and patterns
  • Analyze campaign effectiveness over time

Best practices

  1. Monitor regularly - Check metrics frequently to catch issues early
  2. Compare rates - Look at rates, not just counts, to understand performance
  3. Track trends - Watch for changes in delivery and engagement rates
  4. Set benchmarks - Establish baseline metrics to measure improvement
  5. Act on insights - Use metrics to optimize subject lines, content, and timing
  6. Watch for issues - High bounce or spam rates need immediate attention

Common metrics to track

  • Delivery rate - Should be >95% for email
  • Bounce rate - Should be <5% for email
  • Spam rate - Should be <0.1% for email
