Web Widget

The Web Widget is the fastest Help Desk integration. Add a channel in Conviso, paste a script on your site, and customer chats appear in Support → Conversation.

Engage vs Support

Campaigns, broadcasts, and people live in Engage. The widget is a Help Desk channel. Open it from the Support chip after Help Desk is enabled.

Prerequisites

  1. Help Desk is enabled and this workspace is linked to a help desk. See Enable Help Desk.
  2. You can edit the HTML of the page where chat should appear (paste before </body>).

Step 1: Add a Web Widget channel

  1. Open the workspace and click the Support chip.
  2. Go to Settings → Inboxes & Channels (or Settings → General → Connected Channels).
  3. Click Add Channel.
  4. Choose Web Widget.
  5. Enter a Widget label (for example, Main Support Chat).
  6. Click Connect channel.

Conviso shows Web widget ready — copy the install snippet for your site.

Step 2: Paste the Standard snippet

Use the Standard tab. Replace YOUR_WIDGET_TOKEN with the token from the channel card (or copy the snippet with Copy).

<script src="https://sdk.conviso.ai/support-widget.js" data-widget-token="YOUR_WIDGET_TOKEN" async></script>

Paste it immediately before the closing </body> tag on every page where chat should appear.

You can also copy the snippet from AI Agent → Copy install snippet.

Treat the widget token like a secret

Anyone with the token can open a chat as your help desk. Do not commit it to a public repository or paste it in a public ticket.

Step 3: Identify logged-in users (optional)

Anonymous visitors can still chat. For logged-in apps, identify the person so operators see a name and email, and visitors can skip the pre-chat form.

Use the Advanced (Developer) snippet, then call identify:

<script>
(function(w,d,s,o,f,js,fjs){
w['ConvisoSupportObject']=o;w[o]=w[o]||function(){(w[o].q=w[o].q||[]).push(arguments)};
js=d.createElement(s),fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
js.id=o;js.src=f;js.async=1;fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);
}(window,document,'script','ConvisoSupport','https://sdk.conviso.ai/support-widget.js'));

ConvisoSupport('init', { token: 'YOUR_WIDGET_TOKEN' });
ConvisoSupport('identify', {
name: 'Ada',
email: '[email protected]',
user_id: 'app-user-123'
});
</script>

Call identify after your app knows who the user is (for example, after session load). Use the same user_id you send on Conviso identify calls when possible.

Step 4: Send a test chat

  1. Open your site and wait for the widget to load.
  2. Send a short message (for example, Test from docs).
  3. In Conviso, open Support → Conversation.
  4. Confirm the thread appears under Active.

If nothing appears, confirm the token matches this workspace’s widget channel and that the script is not blocked by a content-security policy.

Next steps

  • Turn on the AI agent so the widget can answer from your knowledge base.
  • Add email or WhatsApp if you also support those channels.

Best practices

  • Load the script on the pages where customers need help, not only on a /support route.
  • Identify users as soon as they are authenticated.
  • After you change the AI persona or avatar, refresh the site so the widget picks up the new identity.
